“At the end of the day, he said, “I will take care of you,” his voice thick with emotion. She stood before him and nodded. He zipped her coat for her.”—Elizabeth Strout, Olive Kitteridge (via quotewhore)
I brought my HOLGA to Brazil & unfortunately ruined a lot of my film because my “darkroom” consisted of me throwing as many blankets over me as I could…but nonetheless, there were a few shots that were saved & I am happy Brazil is embedded in film forever :] Happy Weekend!
““While I don’t remember commencement, I do remember my senior year of college feeling paralyzed because I thought I had to figure out my future all at once. Pick a career, start down a path I’d be on for the rest of my life. I now know it doesn’t work that way. Everyone I know who is successful, and by successful I mean happy in their professional or personal life, every successful person I know could never have predicted when they graduated from college where they’d actually end up.
I’m not saying you should take it easy and just see what happens. You need to outwork everyone around you. You need to arrive early, stay late, you need to make yourself indispensable - you should also probably get rid of those Facebook photos of you passed out on Bourbon Street.
But as you consider what to do now, you shouldn’t necessarily feel that your next step is the most important one you’ll ever take. It’s not. You will go down many paths that go nowhere - especially you English majors. You will try things on and realize they don’t fit. And that’s how it should be. Learning what you don’t want to do is the next best thing to figuring out what you do want to do.”
June 20, 1010 has been a long awaited date for Chad & I. Two years ago when we were unsure of where life would take us & whether or not we would stay together, we decided that on 6.20.10 we would meet at Fort Baker if things hadn’t worked out & just start over & do the whole “Affair to Remember” thing…super cheesy, yes :] And it’s been a joke these past 2 years, but it has also has been a date that has held a lot of hope & promise for us. We have written 6.20.10 in every “PS” while we were long distance & writing letters.
It was such a perfect day. We left midmorning, arrived to find the city in the 70s & enjoyed our packed picnic lunch on the huge field overlooking the Bay. We took Belles exploring through the old bunkers & renovated forts that look like huge “Patriot” style Southern homes. It was so fun to watch her running around & picking flowers to then smell & give to her Daddy :] Nothing melts my heart more than seeing the 2 of them interact together. They are such a cute pair & they just adore each other to no end. The Lord is such a good & faithful Father. His grace is sustaining & beyond compare.
Belles jammin’ to the Eclipse soundtrack.
Our 4th year taking photos on these steps :] Now Belles joins the tradition.
Happy Father’s Day & Happy 6.20.10, Chaddy. It’s been a pretty great 2 years :]
One day just isn’t enough…I started off the celebrations with just inviting Chad over for dinner tonight after he got off work. I made it super casual & played it off like it was just another night at the Lee household. When he arrived….some of his favorite foods & a backyard picnic with a dressed up girlfriend were waiting for him.
My family has this “SPECIAL” plate we use for whenever it is someone’s birthday or….I guess now it is used for Father’s Day :]
Our faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaveorite dessert. Yummmmm.
Another part of Chad’s Father’s Day gift - I do dishes & he plays Halo with no crap from me [I will post the real gift soon].
We finished the night off with the movie CRAZY HEART [completely recommend it - Bridges is brilliant] & some hot tubbin’.
While Chad & I were in Washington for L&B’s wedding, we got invited by one of Chad’s best friends, Matt, to stay at his cabin in Easton. We would be joining his girlfriend Daly & our other couple friends, Josh & Ashley (whose wedding I am in OCTOBER!!!) for 3 days. We were ecstatic to say the least. These are literally our favorite couples in the world - Jaycen & Kaycie, we missed you - & we knew it would be completely epic =)
Here are some photos captured from the weekend…
Oh & my personal favorite….
I feel so blessed that Chad & I have friends in our lives who love the Lord, who encourage us, who make us laugh, & who enjoy a good glass of wine =) These are our lifers. Love you.
